Real Wedding: Mary and Sean, A Wedding as Great as Gatsby

A Wedding as Great as Gatsby

We are always up for a theme-inspired wedding, especially when the theme is Great Gatsby!  From the lens of Jasmine Amber Photography, we are tickled to share the stunning October 2016 wedding of Mary & Sean. This intimate wedding was filled with black and gold pops, Gatsby-inspired signs, vintage bridesmaid dresses, and a love even Gatsby himself would have admired.  We invite you take a journey into a love story and a wedding that captured the essence of the 1920’s. It was the “Bee’s Knees” of weddings!

Directly from the Bride, Mary on how they met and their journey up to marriage.

“Sean and I met at the Irish pub, Rula Bula, on Mill Avenue in Tempe, AZ. I had just graduated from ASU and was looking for a summer job and Sean was working at Rula Bula where I applied. He asked me if I wanted a glass of water while filling out the application and I politely declined. This was our first conversation. That night, I was hanging out with my friends and told them that I met the man that I was going to marry and they thought I was crazy. About a week later, we worked together for the first time and spent the entire shift flirting. After the shift, we went on our first date. A few days later, we went on another date where he asked me to be his girlfriend on one of the bridges at Tempe Town Lake. Flash forward a few years and we were walking around Tempe Town Lake again. When we got to the bridge, Sean got down on one knee and popped the question. We have been together for almost five years at this point, have had many adventures, travelled to different countries, and really grown as a couple. We are great together and it is crazy to think what might have happened, or not, if he had never asked me if I wanted some water!” – Mary Gendron

Oh how we adore these Art Deco style table numbers and the elegant white floral arrangemnts. They added the perfect touch of Gatsby! And the Gatsby inspired signs that were around the reception space, were really the Cat’s Meow!

Mary’s gown left us speechless! Purchased from BHLDN, it was truly stunning, elegant, & swanky. No detail was left undone on this gown, all the beading and details.  This gown was truly a match made perfectly for Mary.  See for yourself how breathtaking she was in it!

Even the bridesmaids’ dresses were the perfect touch of the 1920’s, beaded gowns in black no doubtfully inspired by the Flapper dresses of the era. Beautiful!!

And how about those Gents!  Sean looked like the “Real McCoy”, the “Big Cheese,” really quite swell! We love this picture, something about it, the way it was edited transports us to the past, as if this was a moment captured in the 1920’s.

Mary & Sean invited their guests to dress up in 1920’s fashion. Why not? It’s a theme-inspired wedding after all. And we quite enjoyed seeing all the fabulous attire!

It was the perfect October day to be married in the Garden Pavilion in front of a gazebo adorned with possibly the most GORGEOUS floral arrangement ever!  It was the sort of oppulence you would see straight out of the Great Gatsby!

The couple even chose to incorporate the Gatsby style into their wedding cake! A decadent three-tier dream, this cake glistening with gold accents was the talk of the town. Thank you to the newlyweds, Mary and Sean, for sharing their love story!

We wish you both a lifetime of love, happiness, and adventures!
